I wouldn't trade JvR for Schenn unless I'm somehow replacing JvR up front. Can we maneuver Kadri into the deal somehow by maybe sending a high draft pick and Blake Kessel the other way? I doubt it because Kadri is the Leafs' last prized prospect after Luke Schenn but it never hurts to ask. We'd probably be better off spinning a much bigger deal that sends JvR west and gets you a bigger and better prized Dman like Weber.

With all of this said, I would rather hang on to JvR all together. We might be too inexperienced up front and too young with the loss of JvR.

Most flyers fan wouldn't give up JVR straight up for Schenn, most leafs fans if not all scuff at trading L. Schenn for JVR straight up.

It will be hilarious to see how this turns out, if anything even turns out.

Bill you are relentless.
Thank you!

I love watching Couts deliberately hold that puck and then go high shelf.

Hope to see him do this for many seasons for the Orange and Black.

And for the record, I wouldn't even consider dealing JVR for just Luke Schenn.

Let's hope Bob can keep improving. He's looking real good so far this year (2.42 GA and .921sv%). He's having a heck of a sophmore season (so far) behind a struggling defense. I hope the kid get's his first shutout soon. He deserves it.

Ur looking at it from a fans perspective. Every fan wants to acquire offense in trades and sign defense, its how our minds work bc we like to see our teams score. However, after watchin Luke Schenn battle and smash guys like he does on our blueline you would quickly change ur tune. In his lesser role this year (only due to the emergence of Gunnarsson, Gardiner, and Franson) he is still playing great hockey for us. He is not inconsistent, and he is not struggling imo, he is playing very solid and jumping in on the play alot more, but has been extremely unlucky at points this season (pucks in off stick, or his own skate etc.) He leads the league for hits by a defenseman for the second straight year, and will block any shot. It is key to understand that uniting him and his brother will bring out the "hometown feel" and comfort level for them to push eachother to be the best they can be, just like the Sedins or Niedermayers which is a huge positive for ur club, all the while adding the piece you wish you had in Coburn, and IMO a potential captain going forward. That being said i would consider the swap, if a couple pieces were added on both ends. And no, sorry but I would NEVER part with Kadri in this deal, or virtually any deal at this point (unless getzlaf or ryan); not for any players not named Giroux which you guys OBVIOUSLY wouldn't do lolll. Kadri is a "franking" wizard and when he plays with confidence (how hes playing now) its fricken scary, ull see what i mean in a year or so when promoted to playing with better players. If this deal went through it would benefit the leafs immensely in this respect as Kads with JVR could make for a sick young duo with Kadris playmaking as good as it is. (Lombardi and Mac cant finish his sick setups). Anyway sorry for the massive reply just thought id give you a Leaf fans incite.

If the Flyers trade JVR, no player will ever sign a long term deal with the Flyers again.

Honestly, I know this isn't a reason to not make a trade, but I sure hope the Flyers brass has thought about the players point of view when it comes to signing here and the way they are treated after making a commitment to the org.

I agree. It does not look good at all. What happens when G and co. wanna re-up.. they look at prior deals.

Not talking about a JVR for Schenn swap in particular, but I sure hope those reasons don't creep into the Flyers thinking when the potential to make their team better (in their opinion) arises.

I think trading JvR for anything less than a top 3 dman is dumb. I think signing guys to multi-year deals only to trade them right away is terrible business. I know if I were a pending FA I would think long and hard about it...

Bob played well and he should get the start next game. Once again you play the hot hand.

I see we are still talking about JVR being trade to the moon in back.

In all likelihood, is Schenn not going to be a top 3 dman?

I like JVR a lot. I've been on here saying I think, when it's all said and done, JVR will have just a solid, if not better, overall career than others in his draft class. The more I think about things though, Pronger's injury has changed the big picture landscape of the Flyers IMO. I think this type of defenseman could be crucial in the years moving forward. I'm talking 2+ years from now, not just this season. There's a great young core of forwards here. By the time Kimmo is done, you'd hope Schenn is ready to step in and be a top defenseman.

Whether he just signed an extension or not shouldn't enter the equation IMO.

odd game last night, seemed like Bizarro night.

The Flyers usually control the game but lose because of goaltending, this was reversed.

The Islanders fans cheering for a good 10 seconds when Talbot was down was a disgrace. Flyers fans get a bad rap, just brutal. The Isles announcers up until that hit were doing a good job, they showed the hit a couple times and said it was clearly a chest shot and that was area Staois hit Talbot. Just horrible.

I am taking nothing away from Bob because he played great the last two games, very impressive. That said he played great against the 14th and 15th seeded teams in the East. Teams you gotta beat, sadly you could argue the only reason they won both was Bob.

The Giroux line has been a mess for 4 games now. I have noticed Giroux in the Flyers zone more then the offensive zone, they just seem to be in a funk and Jagr looks like he's skating with the weight vest on, they need to pick it up.

Regardless the Flyers are winning which is great. If they have that kind of effort against a very solid Preds team Saturday they will get run out of the building.

Bob is playing great. I shudder to think about the next game Bryz plays because at this rate, he will most likely be rusty. If he doesn't have a good game, and is pulled for example again, his confidence may be shot for good this year. Never a dull moment but you gotta keep gaining pts. If Bob woulda come through in the WC, fans would be even more adamant that he take over as #1.

Jagr's injury/health seems to have the Giroux line way off. He simply doesn't look like himself, and it seems to be throwing everyone else off by a hair. On top of that, though, they haven't been anywhere nearly as dogged at controlling the puck in the offensive zone. G seems to feel like he has to pass more than just ripping a shot off.

It seems whatever is wrong with his leg/groin is holding him back. He doesn't seem comfortable or anywhere close to 100%

my thoughts on the JVR for Schenn RUMOUR.

I would like to think the Flyers could get more for JVR,that's no shot on Schenn because I think he is a solid dman who could become a very solid second pairing dman who plays with grit (something the Flyers need on D IMO).

That said I think JVR could become a 40 goal scorer and if healthy this season may have come close to that, it's hard finding big forwards with 40 goal potential.

That said the Stars had to give up Neal to get a Goligoski, totally different dman then Schenn but proof you almost have to overpay to get a young NHL caliber 20+ minutes a night dman.

I'd rather they look for grit somewhere else, maybe trying to get a Salvador type dman along those lines at a much much lower price.

I wouldn't be thrilled with a JVR/Schenn deal but I also wouldn't be doing a swan dive off the nearest bridge.
